OpenRound (“OpenRound”) is developed by Thomas Hoffmann. This policy describes how the app handles information.
OpenRound is designed to keep your scoring data on your devices. We do not operate servers that store your rounds, scores, or player names. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising. There is no account and no sign-in.
You may enter information such as:
This information is stored locally on your device using Apple’s SwiftData framework (and UserDefaults for lightweight settings). It is not transmitted to us.
OpenRound may request location while you use the app to sort nearby courses when you are choosing where to play. Location is processed on device only for that sorting. Your location is not stored by OpenRound and is not transmitted to us.
iCloud sync is off by default. If you turn it on in iPhone Settings, your rounds sync through your Apple iCloud account to your other devices signed into the same account, using Apple’s CloudKit. That sync is between your devices and Apple’s iCloud service — not to OpenRound or Thomas Hoffmann.
The Apple Watch app does not offer an iCloud toggle and keeps scoring data local on the Watch for the round you are playing.
The Watch app is intended for live scoring during a round. It does not maintain long-term round history. Round history and stats live on iPhone when you use both apps together. During an active round, iPhone and Watch may exchange scoring data over WatchConnectivity (a direct link between your paired devices).
OpenRound includes a bundled course directory sourced from DiscGolfAPI (course names, locations, and related metadata). That data ships inside the app so the directory works offline. DiscGolfAPI is a third-party data provider; OpenRound displays their directory data with attribution in the app. We do not send your personal scoring data to DiscGolfAPI.
OpenRound does not:
Data only leaves your device when you choose to, or when Apple’s services you enable handle it:
We do not receive copies of shared or synced content.
OpenRound does not send push notifications from a server. The app does not register for remote push notifications.
OpenRound is a general-purpose sports scorecard. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children through our systems because we do not collect data on our servers.
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above will change when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
